The other day I asked Kevin, “Do you ever get two songs stuck in your head at the same time, getting them all twisted up into some crazy mash-up?”

His response? “No… you watch too much Glee.”

I won a gift card for Athleta through a contest they had on their site recently. The contest awarded a gift card to the first 5 or 10 people to answer a series of questions correctly, all of the answers were found in their blog’s content. So I had to work to get this prize. When I was telling Kevin about this I said, “And somehow I happened to win.”

He said, “You make it sound like there wasn’t any effort on your part, like it was all just random.”

“You’re right. I did work hard to find those answers. I’m pleased with my effort to get the win!”

“Duh… winning. You used your warlock skills and tiger blood to get it.”

We were out to dinner at Cafe Rio when a child at the table behind us walked into Kevin’s elbow, smacked right in the head. The parents apologized profusely to us, pulling their slightly dazed child back toward the table.

As we were leaving, Kevin remarked “I must be one tough S-O-B. I strike someone else’s child in public and they apologize to ME!”

The other day we were in the car and the song ‘People are Strange‘ by Echo and the Bunnymen came on the radio. One of the lines in the song played:

When you’re strange
No one remembers your name

Prompting Kevin to say, “That was obviously written before American Idol. Example: William Hung.”

I was in a public restroom before I had my most recent eye surgery. While in the stall, I overheard the following conversation between two women at the sinks:

#1: I hate public restrooms.
#2: Me too. I was at a cleanliness conference recently and learned some crazy things.
#1: Like what?
#2: Well, there were a few sessions on hand-washing. They had everyone wash their hands and then put them under a blacklight.
#1: Really? What were the results?
#2: Most people still had germs all over themselves. Mine were the cleanest in the group.
#1: Nice…

I relayed this discussion to my husband and his response was, “Yes, but she’s the one that attended a cleanliness conference and hand-washing session. You can’t wash that stain off.”

Jade The Boxer was in her crate. Sometimes she just needs a little bit of cooling down time on her own when she gets a little crazy.

Kevin said to her, “Maybe if you calm down, you can come back out and watch TV with us. Then it will be like you are our dog, instead of our prisoner.”

The commercial for the new Pretzel M&M’s was on TV… the one where one of the talking M&M’s is all upset because they’re going to “shove a pretzel inside” of him. The pretzel is standing next to him, mildly perturbed but in general he’s not that upset, just ready to get on with the…. uh… merger.

Anywho… the commercial comes on and my husband comments: “And yet, he’s okay with the nuts.”

Oh the double entendre thoughts that come from that…

A Dream & A Conversation With the Husband

I had a dream the other night.

That statement alone is odd enough. Or at least if I alter it to say “I had a dream the other night that I actually remember.” Because that rarely happens.

I was riding a bus. A Greyhound-type bus on a long trip on freeways, not a city bus. The bus was pretty full, so I had to sit down next to a stranger on the bus. That stranger was my husband.

So I met my husband on a dirty, nasty bus? Why were we on a bus? Where were we going?

I was wearing a ruffled skirt straight out of the 80′s with my hair in a crimped ponytail on the side of my head. And my husband was wearing a wife beater and a jean jacket.

Um… more weirdness.

We started talking on the bus and really hit it off. The bus came to a stop and we got off the bus together.

This dream is really lacking details. I never said I was GOOD at dreaming. Just the fact that I’ve got these details is unique. I usually have one dream with details I remember each year.

When I told my husband about the dream he nodded, “I could rock the wife beater and jean jacket look. Were you wearing LA Gears?”

I didn’t think I was, but I have no recollection of shoes from the dream. To this he replied, “There’s no way I would have hit on you in my jean jacket if you didn’t have on LA Gears.”

I grabbed my iPhone and started a song playing. I needed a song, any song, immediately. As Flo Rida started, I said to Kevin, “I needed music. For some reason I’m singing the graduation march over and over in my head.”

“And out loud. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that was just on the inside.”

I pulled my toast out and was spreading it with Naturally Nutty Sun Seed Butter. My husband looked over my shoulder and said, “That doesn’t look like peanut butter.”

“It’s not, it’s a blend of seeds butter*.”

“It doesn’t look very buttery.”

“True, I guess it does look more like a paste. But it tastes AMAZING!”

He softly starts singing as he turns his back on me, “Amazing Paste…”

*The Sun Seed Butter is a blend of Pumpkin, Sunflower, Flax and Hemp seeds… and it truly is awesome.
