The day before Thanksgiving we spent a lot of time test driving cars. We were looking at vehicles that are classified as “crossovers” because we wanted something that had enough room in the back that we could carry slightly bigger items as needed without resorting to a truck.
The test drive experience is always weird. One dealership told us we could only make right turns, thus resulting in a drive around the block. Another dealership the salesman sat in the back and told us all about how he lived in France for a while, and his trips into Utah and all the weird things about living in Vegas without mentioning the vehicle’s merits at all.
The thing that annoyed me was at the Toyota dealership. Yep… I’m calling them out by brand name because they made me a little angry. They took away our car keys so they could take a look at what would be our potential trade-in. They escorted us inside and kept trying to convince us to buy a car that day. When we said no to one person, they would go get another person on their team to assault us. Finally I told them to just give us our car keys back and let us leave. They were very prompt in calling us back a few hours later to try to “see what we can work out to get you buying”.
The Toyota was one of our top two contenders, but their pushiness convinced us to lower their status a little. And after a few Google searches, our mind was made up.
On Saturday we decided to trade in my husband’s 2001 Subaru Outback:

For a brand new 2010 Subaru Outback:

I guess we’re kind of a Subie family now. According to the salesman the only thing we’re missing to make us true Subaru fans is a dog.
