Before 40
I enjoyed having a list of things to do before turning 30. It was several things crammed into one year, so instead of making a list of things to do before turning 40 and doing all those in my 39th year of life, I’m spreading it over the decade.
Except I missed the entire first year of that time frame because I didn’t have the list made. (Actually, the first year and a quarter.)
And I anticipate the list changing and evolving over the years.
But that’s who I am now, a constant work-in-progress evolving every day; so my list can reflect that.
Plus, my game… my rules.
Here’s my starting point:
- Dye my hair a dramatically different color.
Dark. Or purple streaks. Or both… I have many years to play. I did highlights/lowlights before, but now I want something more dramatic. - Complete an ultramarathon
That’s any distance over the standard 26.2 of a regular marathon. Whether it’s a 50k, a 50-miler or a 100-miler (or all of the above) is up for discussion. - Visit New York City
Not sure exactly what I want to do while there, but I know I want to go. Perhaps see a Broadway play. - Leave the
countrycontinent
Not for good… I just want to take a vacation outside of the US again. Not Mexico (went there in May 2008) and not Canada… I want to leave this entire continent. I went to France & England in 2001 and enjoyed that. I would love to re-visit those places but take Kevin with me this time. But I’d also love to go somewhere completely new. - Find my feel-good weight
Figure out the set point my body wants to weigh when I’m eating and exercising right. Not only figure it out… but accept that point. I am more than a number on a scale or a size in my pants, it’s just hard to remember at times.
I still need some funny foods to try. Perhaps I should add “Try Oysters” to the list again, since that was something I failed to complete from the Before 30 list.
I’m open to suggestion. What kind of life adventures are on your bucket lists? Maybe I’ll steal those!
Great LIST, I can’t say it’s a Bucket List because I have every confidence that you will accomplish all of those things well before your ticket is punched. Having said that, I’m a red head, bottled, and I cannot, cannot, cannot, say enough about how much I love being a red head… I suggest you try red on your quest to finding your perfect color…
I’m a newbie blogger myself, actually just started, so I would love to pick your brain given you’ve been blogging forever. Anyway, have to get back to work, as I’ve done nothing productive today to speak of, except play on my blog, and I have a deadline…
Hope you visit my blog I’d love to hear your comments…
I vote for pink hair! Although, if you dyed your hair dark brown your eyes would really POP.
I would agree with Bethany that dark brown would really look good on you. Maybe you should add the red highlights and be a red head, too.
I am ready to leave the country (Ireland, Switzerland?) any time if Kevin doesn’t come through. Maybe we could even plan a few days in New York on the way!
I like this idea… however, I never can remember my current age and my birthday is approaching. Um?
