I just randomly saw your site but I work on behalf of one of the top Eye Programs in the country and would highly encourage you to see another doctor (and ophthalmologist again, not an optometrist). This is clearly a problem – not just a matter of something being in your eye or your eyelashes irritating it. Another prescription to soothe the pain isn’t going to take care of the problem. See another doc! Hope it gets better!

I’m sorry to hear you’re still going through this, Jill It’s scary and frustrating, but there HAS to be an answer and a positive outcome.

YES, please get a solid second opinion. If you have a good recommendation but the doc isn’t covered by your insurance, by all means, pay the out-of-network fee if you have to. Your eyes are too important.

The frustrating thing is that technically I’ve seen 3 different doctors over the course of this. But one was just for immediate relief while out of town, the other was also a insta-appointment for relief from pain. But I agree with you, another opinion may be needed. Thanks for the recommendation, looking up to see if he’s covered by my insurance!

I’m totally going to get a cool pair of glasses (or two or three) once this is figured out… I just want to be able to even pass the dumb eye exam! I will definitely keep everyone posted. I like the sympathy! (J/K… really, keeping it on my blog is a good way of keeping the records!)

Man, I would be so freaked out too! It makes me think of those eye diseases they get in Africa, where their lids turn inward and their eyelashes scrape up their eyes until they go blind. Not that thats whats going on with you I”m sure…not trying to make it sound worse.
Maybe you should get a second opinion from another doctor to see if he knows whats going on?
