Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Plot:
Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle
From the IMDB Profile

Notable:
Megan Fox is very talented at draping herself seductively across things. And wears wildly inappropriate clothing for the task at hand.

You gotta wonder: if God made us in His image, who made him?

Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

There were glimmers of the wit and humor that made the first Transformers movie fun… but for the most part, it was full of CGI robot fighting.

I’ll give the team that created those scenes some credit, they’re talented. It takes a lot of skill to create that kind of digital effect. And apparently they REALLY liked using that skill, because there was scene after scene after scene…. the movie went on about 40 minutes too long. At least 40 minutes too long. There were times that I was getting bored because the fighting scenes went on so long.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed in this. It’s not like I had really high hopes for it either, so it took a lot to actually disappoint me with this… but it was overkill. Watch the first Transformers movie again instead.

Lars and the Real Girl

Synopsis:
A delusional young guy strikes up an unconventional relationship with a doll he finds on the Internet.
From the IMDB Profile

Notable:
The doll was treated like a real person on set to help people stay in character.

Sometimes I get so lonely I forget what day it is, and how to spell my name.

Rating: PG-13 for some sex-related content

Lars and the Real Girl

This movie was so… sweet. People may not realize that immediately, especially upon hearing the main character has a “relationship” with a life-size doll. But it’s a tender relationship and the doll is his coping mechanism for difficulties in his life.

Most people have some kind of coping mechanism, although we may not do something that is so outwardly strange. But his mechanism does ultimately end up bringing Lars out of his shell and closer to others. That’s better than some other coping mechanisms in this world that just end up harming the individual.

I would totally recommend this movie.

My rating: 4.0 stars
