Lars and the Real Girl

This movie was so… sweet. People may not realize that immediately, especially upon hearing the main character has a “relationship” with a life-size doll. But it’s a tender relationship and the doll is his coping mechanism for difficulties in his life.

Most people have some kind of coping mechanism, although we may not do something that is so outwardly strange. But his mechanism does ultimately end up bringing Lars out of his shell and closer to others. That’s better than some other coping mechanisms in this world that just end up harming the individual.

I would totally recommend this movie.

My rating: 4.0 stars

  1. Wow, ok… gonna go add this to Netflix. Watching the trailers I was so not as impressed as I was with this review!

  2. Had I not read your review, I would say I’d never rent this movie! It sounds pretty lame, a guy having a relationship with a doll.. could even come across as GROSS. But, if you say it’s sweet.. I might be pleasantly surprised. Kudos.
