Notable:
There was a character named Sand Saref in this… although it sounded like San Sarif. I kept waiting for other font-related characters.

The Spirit
Both Sin City and 300 were pretty remarkable films, in terms of story, acting and style. With Frank Miller at the helm of those and this one, I had high hopes. And those hopes were stomped on and obliterated. In fact, I am angry that I actually wasted time attempting to watch this film. Angry…
The characters were all flat and boring. The story was dull and slow. Even the visuals weren’t as stunning as other films in this live-action, graphic novel genre. Everything was a massive letdown. Awkward jokes were thrown in at random points (see the quote above) and people seemed to jump into fight scenes without any explanation.
And to be perfectly honest, I didn’t make it all the way through. About 45 minutes into this I started looking for apps on my iPhone. After an hour both of us shut the film off. It also happened to be right around the hour mark (as we were turning it off) the film was finally getting around to explaining who the character of The Spirit was (based on that brief synopsis provided by IMDB). If I don’t care anything about the main character by that point, I sure as hell don’t want to be introduced to them over halfway through the film.
If I could get a refund on time in my life for this, I would. Seriously… don’t bother. At all.
* I’ve really gotta see a good show… there have been some real duds lately!
