Twilight

Oh boy… I watched this once and was pretty sure I didn’t care for it. But then I watched it again and I was certain. But then I watched it a third time with the director/cast commentary and knew I pretty much loathed this film. And yet… I’m looking forward to the next one in the series. This series is like heroin, you know it’s really bad for you and yet you keep coming back for more.

I hated the coloring and lighting used throughout. I hated how awkward and stilted every interaction seemed. I hated how low-budget it felt in comparison to the phenomenon the whole series is. I wanted Robert Pattinson to wash, cut and comb his hair the whole time. I felt like Jacob had no chemistry with Bella. The teens at the school were super annoying and didn’t seem to connect with the characters in the book. I pretty much disliked it all.

So why did I keep watching it over and over? And I’m almost regretting sending it back to Netflix because I didn’t watch all the special features.

Cold turkey… that’s what I had to do.

My rating: 0.5 stars

  1. I completely agree with your review… the characters never really bonded in this film version, it was awfully choppy and awkward for me too. I was disappointed, because I loved the series… I wanted it to be more than a low-budget teen film!

Yet I know I am excited for the next installment. I’m hoping they get it right the second time around?

p.s. I really don’t buy Pattinson as Edward, either. He’s not as “beautiful” as I imagined him to be.

  2. Lora: I’m right there with you on Pattison/Edward… not what I interpreted from the book. Oh… and what did you think of the glittering skin in the sunlight? I thought the movie did a weird job with that too.
