I know there are a lot of baby name books out there on the market. Books filled with 9,000,001 names and meanings.
Looking up my short little name brought about some interesting results.
On the site Behind the Name, the results were less than fruitful:
Short form of GILLIAN
Looking up Gillian gave me:
Medieval English feminine form of JULIAN.
Alright, I’m an effeminate dude…
Moving on to the site Name Meanings, I get:
Girl/Sweetheart
Alright, that’s a little better. At least it recognizes I’m a female.
Baby Names at Parents Connect returned this result:
Down-bearded youth
Huh? What the hell does that mean?
But the real kicker that started this all was a post on Angella’s site, Dutch Blitz, that enlightened me to the fact that you can search for names on Urban Dictionary. Oh my… The results returned for my name were pretty dirty. So much so that I don’t want to include them on the site because I get tired of weirdo searches as it is… no need to fuel that fire. Here are some of the more publish-able results:
a really awesome girl
She is an intelligent girl and a boss
she is a princess and deserves everything she desires
I’ll refer you to this link so you can read the other definitions that I am choosing to not equate myself with.
So if you’re bored, look up your name… see what you get.
