Halloween 2008

Keeping with tradition, my husband and I carved 4 pumpkins this year – 2 each. We carved them the night before Halloween and they were already molding by the next evening. This Vegas weather is not very conducive to keeping carved pumpkins around! I guess it doesn’t matter much, the goal was to get them to last through Halloween evening.

We went with a witch theme this year.

  1. How cool..Love Kevin’s witch!

  2. Wow, Neat! I hope no one smashed them later.

  3. They were even cooler in person! You did a fantastic job!!!

  4. Those are awesome, you guys are way more dedicated carvers than I.
So…you probably already know this, but I keep getting updates on new comments for your post “Accomplishments experiences before thirty”. Apparently you’re getting a bunch of spam comments with links to porn. But you probably already know that.

  5. Robin: Thanks, Kevin did nice work this year, even if it did invoke a lot of cussing during the carving process!

Karly: Nope, nobody smashed them. I almost wish someone had… then we wouldn’t have had to deal with the moldy, nasty mess they became so rapidly!

Retro: Thanks for the compliments, it’s always nice when people appreciate something. We put a lot of hours into them in one night and they only last one night. But we’re obsessed.

Tearese: Yeah, we’re overly dedicated. I keep thinking maybe we should try carving those fake carving pumpkins at craft stores. Then we could sell our carvings after we’ve used them to people to use in subsequent years! ;-)

And yeah, I usually delete the spam comments the moment they come in. I hadn’t thought of people who are subscribed to comments on old posts receiving those. I’ve actually just removed the comment subscription since people don’t seem to use that much anymore.

  6. These are AMAZING! I am so impressed with you and your husbands carving abilities!

  7. Wow – very impressive!

  8. I never get tired of seeing those pumpkins. They are like art!

  9. Tanya: Thanks! It’s something we’ve been doing together since we started dating.

    Goober: Thank you.

Sparklie: I guess I need to be able to make some kind of art, right? ;-)

  10. dang, those are so good!!!!

Quite impressed! Pumpkin carving has come a long way!

We didn’t get to carving ours this year. They are still on our porch hoping to last to Thanksgiving. :)
