What a Difference…

Remember when we went to our crappy family doctor and on a recent visit they treated us so poorly that it finally made me snap? If you don’t recall, you can go ahead and read that post… I’ll wait here patiently.

I immediately started researching my insurance provider’s site and found several new options. I read about each choice online and selected one that seemed good. I called the office and was impressed with the way they spoke to me. Thus I scheduled an appointment for my husband.

I accompanied him on the visit, just because I wanted to make sure that things felt “right” for both of us. Wow… our new doctor actually took the time to listen to us carefully. She was very thorough in addressing the primary reason we were there. She checked out his other concerns and even offered more natural solutions to try minimizing the need for drugs/antibiotics if at all possible. Plus her office is just down the road, we don’t even have to get on a freeway to get there.

The best news is that my husband will have blood work and an ultrasound out of the way by the end of THIS WEEK, several weeks before the old doctor even planned to get around to these tests. The new doctor even seemed to understand that 1) we desperately want him to feel better and 2) it would be best to get things taken care of if surgery is needed BEFORE he begins on his busy season at work (January through April).

We’ll have to see how things continue to go, but so far I am extremely pleased and feel far more comfortable with this new doctor.

And that is a huge relief…

  1. I am so glad to hear it! A good doctor is worth her weight in gold, that is for sure.

  2. I am so thrilled to hear you have a new doctor. I was appalled at how your old doctor treated you. Let’s hope this one keeps treating you well.

  3. What a huge relief! I’m so glad things seem to be working out.

I have left doctors before because their front staff were appallingly rude and “lost” two of my appointments (one was to have stitches removed). I wrote her a letter after I left explaining why I was no longer her patient and she called to let me know that she left that practice as well!

Sorry for the long comment, I just wanted to say that you can really tell a lot about a doctor by their staff.

  4. Wow, just read the original post. That doctor had some nerve. It always irritates me that some doctors think of themselves as so much better than us ‘little people’. It rankles me even more that there is not a lot of recourse to correct these types of behaviors.

I’m so glad you found someone who so far has been so much more thorough and supportive. Hope your husband gets better very soon!

  5. See.. women doctors are better.
I hope everything works out for your husband!

  6. Yay! Glad you found a doctor you can relate to!!
I can’t believe how fortunate I’ve been in that department. Not so lucky in love though… so take your pick.

  7. Thank goodness.

It’s funny how people who make their living serving people can get it so wrong.

I’m glad you found someone new…
