As I’ve mentioned on here, I had the chance to be a little techno-nerd and got myself an iPhone. Now, I say that I was a “little” techno-nerd because I didn’t camp out or wait in long lines to get it the day it was released. Nope… I waited until the day AFTER it was released and rushed home after my morning 8 mile run to get cleaned up to wait in line. See, I’m not a complete dork!
The latest version of the operating system for the iPhone and the iPod Touch gives users the opportunity to download different apps. These are self-contained programs that expand the capabilities of your phone (or pod) and allow you to do all kinds of things that increase your productivity.
The first useful tool is “Urbanspoon“.

This one allows you to select a city, then find a restaurant within that city. You can lock certain choices (like cuisine type, price, neighborhood) or you can leave them all unlocked, give it a shake and let the wheels stop where they may. I haven’t actually used this to find a place to eat yet, I just like the pretty sounds it makes. It’s like being in a casino without all the smoke and losing money.
The next one that is really improving my day is “More Cowbell!“

Yep, this allows you to tap the screen in order to play a virtual cowbell. And if you don’t keep playing, Christopher Walken is there to remind you that he’s “gotta have more cowbell!”
Sadly, they can’t all be winners. The Light Saber application just hasn’t panned out the way I thought. I’m not able to get into the proper mindset that it takes to truly utilize that app properly, but there are a lot of people on YouTube that are very capable of enjoying this and making full use of it to enhance their daily lives.
Now that I’ve uncovered the ways that the iPhone can improve the functional aspects of life, I suppose I should make an effort to look into some of the options that are for entertainment, huh? After all, a girl can’t “work” all the time… there has to be some kind of release each day!
