Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Plot:
Devastated Peter takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah. Little does he know Sarah’s traveling to the same resort as her ex … and she’s bringing along her new boyfriend.
From the IMDB Profile

Notable:
Jason Segel, who wrote this, actually did have a moment where someone broke up with him while he was naked.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

What did I take away from this film?
1) I need a Hawaiian Vacation.
2) ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ is very lovely when sung in Hawaiian.
3) Puppet theatre should be more prevalent.
4) Male nudity on screen: Once it’s kind of funny, two times it’s kind of surprising and four times it’s a little awkward.
This movie did have some very funny moments, but I didn’t feel it was as exceptional as the other Judd Apatow productions out there. The oversexed rock star character was surprisingly funny, more so than I thought he would be at the outset of the film. I’m not so sure I could take repeat viewings of this film, as I know I don’t need to see Jason Segel’s nude scenes again, but there were some really well-written scenes with good humor.

I Am Legend

Plot:
Years after a plague kills most of humanity and transforms the rest into monsters, the sole survivor in New York City struggles valiantly to find a cure.
From the IMDB Profile

Notable:
Will Smith basically carried this movie completely on his own. Any other actors in the film really didn’t have much screen time.

I Am Legend

Films like this one, freak me out. The thought of the human race being obliterated by man-made viruses is far scarier than any alien or monster. Going into this film, I honestly didn’t know much about it. And I’m not sure exactly what I expected (maybe something more action-packed like Smith’s other films?), but this wasn’t what I anticipated. What I got was a far more frightening and thought-provoking film than I guessed. Will Smith was really good, convincingly portraying both genius and the madness that would come from being all alone. The use of flashbacks was an effective way to tell the story and overall, this was a very good piece of cinema. It will stick with me.
