We bought a new computer just before Christmas last year. Part of the deal was that after purchasing the computer through Dell, we got a $100 gift card that we could use in Dell’s online store. So I decided to put that card toward the purchase of a point-and-shoot camera, one that I could keep in my purse for moments when I felt the need to take a picture and didn’t have my DSLR on me. (Because, as much as I love that camera… it’s a little large to tote around everywhere.)
So I looked through the site and picked out the Samsung S85. And I’ve tried for months to like that stupid camera, but it’s just a piece of crap.
Sure, sometimes it will play nicely and give me something like this:

This was from our exotic produce tasting at the Food & Wine Festival while in Anaheim a couple weeks ago.
And then at other times it grinds away, thinking, refusing to take pictures and produces something like this:

My mom and me at Disneyland while in Anaheim.
Sometimes it turns itself off the minute I turn it on. Sometimes it just refuses to take a picture, no matter what setting I have it on. It has a ‘Cafe’ setting that is supposed to work for taking photos in dimly lit “cafe” type environments and that rarely produces anything worthwhile. The night shooting mode has yet to work either.
It just kind of bums me out that this thing that was supposed to help me catch some of those random moments in life has turned out to be a source of frustration.
