Keep to the Format

We were driving home from the gym and the husband said, “Whoa… my hands just slipped from the wheel while we were turning!”

I looked at him and said, “Why do you always do that?”

“What?”

“We can be sitting here in silence and then you just tell me the bad shit that’s happening. Like ‘My hands slipped, I almost lost control of the car!’ or ‘Don’t worry, I just spilled it on the floor, the counter and my pants.’ Maybe I don’t need to know about all the bad things if you can just fix them.”

He responds, “It’s not the bad stuff. It’s the exciting stuff. It’s the current news.”

“Well, then give me a more complete broadcast, give me the news and then throw in a little weather, sports and maybe a kicker story that involves a kitten or something. There’s a format to this, you know?”

Good Luck Chuck

Plot:
In order to keep the woman of his dreams from falling for another guy, Charlie Logan has to break the curse that has made him wildly popular with single women: Sleep with Charlie once, and the next man you meet will be your true love.
From the IMDB Profile

Notable:
It sure seemed like the people in this film were dressed for life in Southern California. In fact, that’s where my husband thought this was set until I pointed out that the license plates were all from Washington.

Quote:
And by “deformity” he means small breasts.

Rating: R for sequences of strong sexual content including crude dialogue, nudity, language and some drug use

Good Luck Chuck

This movie was completely confused on what it wanted to be. At some times it is a raunchy, gross-out comedy, other moments it is a sweet romantic comedy, other times it’s a quest to correct some event from your past that has affected your entire future. The best friend character was stupid and had way too many jokes about female anatomy that weren’t really that funny. I’m not really sure I buy Dane Cook as a leading man. The scenes with the really overweight girl that he uses to break his “curse” are just disgusting and cruel. Yeah, I laughed a few times and I think the concept could have been a really funny movie. It just didn’t quite make it there because it couldn’t commit to a genre.
