Plot:
Private Joe Bauers, the definition of “average American”, is selected by the Pentagon to be the guinea pig for a top-secret hibernation program. Forgotten, he awakes 500 years in the future. He discovers a society so incredibly dumbed-down that he’s easily the most intelligent person alive.

Notable:
The production company wasn’t sure how to market this film, so they sat on it for a long time and gave it a really quiet release in a few markets. It was hardly a blip on the film radar.

I can’t believe you like money too. We should hang out.
Thoughts:
The title says it all, and yet this film was pretty funny. The opening sequence about natural selection not weeding out the dumber in society was hilarious. (The dumb redneck couple keeps procreating and the educated couple is putting off children because of jobs, stock market, etc. Kind of true!) This film isn’t a stunning work of acting achievement, but it’s funny and there are plenty of goofy little side jokes scattered throughout the film that you’ll only catch if you pay attention. And it’s actually a little terrifying that a future could be like that! At only 84 minutes, it was definitely entertaining without being a major time-suck.
