Signs of the Season

Tax time is upon us. And if there is any doubt in my mind, I can just look for the tell-tale signs for verification:

  1. Every day mail arrives that says it contains ‘Important Tax Information’
  2. Strange people in Statue of Liberty costumes start showing up on street corners, waving signs like lunatics. (Not to be confused with the lunatic sign waving for new home communities.)
  3. My CPA husband is at work from early in the morning until late at night, EVERY DAMN DAY!

Sigh…

  1. HAHA!!!!! The Statue of Liberty. I’ve seen her dancing in a few places. After all, she is the national symbol of freedom, prosperity, and taxation (???)

  2. There is some kind of mock scary Statue of Liberty on Burger Alley. It is some sort of grotesque and looming attempt at resembling the real thing. Also, it has a really big head, like a Peanuts character.

  3. Aww, you’re a tax-season widow. As an occasional Navy-deployment widow, I commiserate with you.

  4. Oh.

As an accountant, I remember ALL TOO WELL the craziness that is tax season.

    After ten years?

    I WILL NOT GO BACK.
    :)

  5. HEY:
does your hubby do side work? like say for peole opening their own business who don’t know how to write all their business purchases off???? This is a whole new ballgame for us…and we’d PAY…in cupcakes and dollars!

  6. Now that my husband has a side consulting business I feel like I never see him. I commiserate.

  7. Normally tax season doesn’t bother me too much, heck, I usually get some money back. This year I did a lot of work where taxes weren’t be deducted automatically, so this is going to be a bit of a mess. And I’m going to owe money. *sad*
