Yesterday after having worked from 5:58 AM until 4:04 PM, I changed my clothes and got on the treadmill. At the completion of 6.1 miles, I stopped the machine and went to retrieve the mail. I pulled out the usual stuff; bills, address labels from charities, magazines, catalogs, etc. There was also a key to one of the larger boxes for packages.
“Hmm… I’m not expecting any packages.”
I opened the box and found one addressed to me. The return address stated it was from my best friend in Idaho, although I figured that out from her handwriting alone the moment I saw my name.
I quickly walked back to my house, got some scissors and cut through the tape. I opened the box to find this.
The card read:
“You have officially been put in a ‘Time Out’! You must immediately stop what you are doing and take (at least) 10 minutes to just relax and pamper yourself. This ‘Time Out’ is mandatory. Love ya!”
My best friend is awesome. I’ve been going through a pretty tough time lately (and I’m still not sure if I will spill the beans here on the site about it. Maybe someday I will be strong enough for that.) and she knew just how to put a smile on my face.
I wish we didn’t live so far away. But there is something so awesome about a bond of friendship that spans more than 15 years, distance may be tough but it can’t kill that connection. And I’m really grateful to her for her thoughtfulness. She’s amazing. I love you K!
PS – I immediately got in a hot shower for my timeout, complete with lavendar scented oil to calm and soothe me.
