Home and the End

The drive home totally sucked. Pouring rain the whole way. I couldn’t see very far in front of me and kept hydroplaning. I stopped at a gas station in Mesquite, Nevada for a while, got some caffeine and thought I’d wait for the rain to let up some. When it became apparent that was just wishful thinking, I got back on the road and continued driving home.

When I got home I saw the light on the answering machine indicating I had messages. One was Select Comfort trying to schedule the delivery of my new bed (YAY!) and the other was a message from my hubby saying that his flight out of Tucson is delayed due to the weather and we’re still unsure when he’ll be able to leave (BOO!).

So I did some yoga, brewed some tea and I’m about to tackle the hundreds of items piled up in my feed reader. I just don’t have as much time to get through everybody’s posts while I’m traveling.

I had hoped to have some insightful words about the end of NaBloPoMo, but I don’t. The 30th has come, my posting obligation is over and today has been an exceptionally long day. Maybe I’ll do a wrap of the event in December. Maybe not. But for now, I’m going to relax.

Mactastic

I’ve been in Utah this week for work. And while these trips are always kind of draining because time seems to slip away so fast, this has been a fairly good week. The big reason is due to Steve Jobs and his awesome company. Okay, maybe that’s a little extreme. The big reason is really because I have good employers that try to reward me in little ways, even when the job gets fairly overwhelming. And if they can’t do it with monetary increases, they can provide other little job perks.

Leopard:
My boss bought a copy of Leopard for me to install on my Macbook Pro. Every time I have done a Mac OS upgrade I am blown away by how simple the process is to complete. Easy, breezy, beautiful… or something like that. I even somehow managed to do the upgrade in between meetings and presentations. That also means that I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it much yet, but that will happen soon.

iMac:
My boss also got a copy of Leopard for my iMac. But the iMac is fairly old. So if Leopard won’t install, I get a new iMac. I’m so hoping it’s too old. But I have to drive home first to check on that.

iPod Touch:
I also got an iPod Touch this week. It’s a totally justified work purchase because I have to be able to test web pages on mobile Safari and since my work has a cell phone contract with Verizon, an iPhone wasn’t really an option for work. But the iPod Touch… totally doable. It’s sexy and attractive and I can totally understand the hype over the iPhone. It’s an amazing toy tool.

And now, I am about to get in my car and make the drive back home. As soon as I get home I am running to my office to check the iMac. Cross your fingers that it’s old so I get another new toy tool.
