Earth Dance Soaps

On our way home from San Diego, we went through the small town of Julian, CA. It is a tiny little town, known mainly for the apple orchards in the area. There are several bakeries in town that sell apple pastry products and other shops feature apple-related items too.

One store we stopped in had apple butter (we bought a jar of the juice sweetened variety – YUM!), candies, nuts and various other handmade items. One part of the store featured some lotions made by a company that is local to Julian. This included a bottle of ‘Julian Apple Pie’ scented lotion.

Normally I wouldn’t think to make myself smell like apples, but when in apple-land… I had to pick it up and give it a sniff. It smelled WONDERFUL. So good, I rubbed a little on my hand. And then had to purchase a bottle.

This is the best lotion I have ever used. Not only is it extremely moisturizing and lasts a long time, the smell is divine and the scent carries throughout the day very well. Too many times I’ve bought scented lotions that smell great for about 10 minutes, then it’s gone. This stuff rocks, especially since I’m not a regular perfume spritzer but I definitely want to smell good.

Another awesome thing is the ingredient list. I’ve been purchasing more organic foods and I love it when an ingredient list doesn’t read like some kind of chemistry lab experiment. Well, I’m starting to think that I may be leaning toward these kinds of items when it comes to skin care as well. I have a tendency to get little red bumps all over my upper arms and they have all disappeared with the use of this lotion. Maybe my skin doesn’t like being used in chemical warfare?

I wish I had taken the time to smell the few other scents in the store. Unfortunately they don’t have the Apple Pie scent listed on their site. I am very tempted to order more from their site, but I’m always a little apprehensive to order scents without experiencing them myself first. Plus I am not entirely sure I want to smell like “patchouli”. Lavendar would probably soothing, but I tend to associate that scent with bedtime.

Visit their web site to learn more about their products. I’m just linking to them and talking about them because I’m very impressed with this product. (And I’m linking you directly to their home page, as opposed to the annoying intro… sorry if you’re into those things. I hate them, they’re just a waste of time.)

  1. Oh, MAN.

I started reading and immediately thought “She is going to do it. She is going to make me drool and crave apple pie and there is not a dang thing I can do about it right now.’

    And you HAVE.

    Pout. Drool. Envy.

    I’ll check out the site.

  2. You saying patchouli is the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. I totally RELATE. And, I love Julian. Good find!

  3. How fun to find something while traveling that is such a treasure!

    Apple Pie, mmmmm.

Yes, I think I need to start reading labels on more things besides foods and kitchen cleaners. Crap, there goes more money! ;)

  4. Loralee: And I didn’t even explain the delightful pie we split. We bought a slice of traditional flaky crust apple pie and a slice of crumbly topped boysenberry apple pie. They were delicious!

Retro: Yeah, Julian was a fun find. I have realized that we kind of enjoy little towns with unique shops and cafes.

Little Miss Mel: Yeah, I hear you on the money thing! With buying organic foods, natural cleaning products and now moving toward that in the beauty products, I’d better be beautiful and live forever with the money I’m spending! ;-)
