If I weren’t working in my current job, I have a few jobs that I think I would consider doing.
- Baker:
I adore baking breads. Cooking has become a relatively recent hobby and I could read cookbooks for fun just about any day of the week. But baking whole grain breads is where I truly excel. I like playing with a variety of flours (wheat, barley, oat, spelt, etc.) and since I started milling my own flour I’ve really found a passion. My dad always tells me that I should sell my breads, but I don’t feel like I’m quite to that point yet. - Yoga Instructor:
I’ve been practicing yoga for the past 10 years. It rejuvenates me, it uplifts me and it makes me feel strong and relaxed at the same time. My mother has just started doing yoga and she turns to me often for advice and guidance on perfecting her postures or getting the most out of a pose without going beyond her current abilities. She even recommended that I consider this career path. - TV Graphic Artist:
Okay, so I’ve already done this career. But I would go back to it because there are times that I really miss it. It’s hard to convey to people who haven’t ever done live news, but it’s a rush. It’s always changing, there is something new every day and the job is often a “fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants” type situation. The hours can be brutal and there is the surrealism of hearing a co-worker say with enthusiasm, “There’s a house fire and it’s about to spread. We could have a whole block burn down! Awesome…” But I did enjoy my time in this job and I would gladly return. - Nutritionist:
I am obsessed with all things healthy. I read labels meticulously, I dissect everything I eat and I try to get a good balance of nutrients. I love reading the latest research on health and wellness. Reviews about the latest health food products and crazes intrigue me and I never tire of them. True, this has made me a bit OCD when it comes to my own diet, but I’d rather be a bit compulsive than completely in the dark about what I’m eating.
