Work Travel

I’m in Utah this week for work. Life always seems so busy when I’m here. The day starts an hour earlier because I have to actually get showered and cleaned up in the mornings as opposed to wearing workout clothes with no shoes all day. Then I go from meeting to meeting to meeting. And since I’m in meetings all day, I just spend a lot of time talking about doing things instead of actually getting things accomplished.

And there has been a really loud bird outside my window each morning that wakes me up. It usually starts chirping around 5:30 AM. Which is 4:30 in my typical time zone. Part of me is annoyed by this, but part of me finds it endearing because the only birds I have seen around my home in The Vegas are nasty pigeons.

I was a little dismayed to realize that it’s just Tuesday night. Sadly these weeks feel like I’ve crammed about 14 weeks in 5 days. But it’s good to get out and have a little contact with the “real world”.

  1. Back in the years when I had a job like that (Well, sorta. I coordinated and managed classical concerts) the travel was so intense I curled up in a ball of exhaustion and didn’t want to think about even breathing, I was so tired.

    I loved it, though.

  2. I hear you on the Tuesday thing. Days seem like weeks to me lately.

  3. I love birds chirping in the morning! Okay, maybe not one, loud and obnoxious bird at 4:30am, but I do love the sound of real birds. I got a big dose of morning chirping when I visited my friend in DC last April. Ahhh, things I miss living in LV.

  4. Loralee: I completely understand. There are days I want to curl up and cry, but I can’t imagine NOT being this busy.

LVGurl: I’m glad I’m not the only person that misses the birds while living in Vegas. I can’t call a pigeon a real bird, they’re just flying rats.

  5. We have a tree out our bedroom window that is so close it actually touches the window. THis spring we have had birds out there too. I’m with you: on the one hand its endearing to have birds out your window(makes me think of mary poppins) on the other, it IS 5:00 in the morning.
