Yum-O Organization
If you’ve read this site for any length of time, you’ve probably figured out that I’m pretty passionate about nutrition and health. This new charity founded by Rachael Ray speaks to me. It terrifies me how nutritionally deficient so many people’s diets are and children are being raised this way. Have you noticed how many tubby kids are around these days? The charity is partnered with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Bill Clinton is promoting that group. He recently said that we’re raising the first generation of children that actually have shorter life expectancies than previous generations because of how unhealthy they are. SCARY! I’m going to be following these group’s efforts, and I don’t even have kids yet. That’s how important this issue is to me.
Hoopnotica
Part of me wants to laugh at the whole idea, but part of me thinks it’s pretty cool what these women can do with a Hula Hoop (opening video on site). I wish I could do that, but I have no clue what I would do with that skill.
Egg Separator
This makes me laugh.
Fire Bowl
If I had one of these on either side of my front entrance, do you think this would make that dumb neighbor kid think twice about ringing my doorbell and running away several times during the week?
Death By PowerPoint
This speaks volumes about my place of employment. People at my job have even been known to use PowerPoint at employee parties to show us comics and videos that are supposed to make us laugh and forget that we’re eating mediocre pizza in the middle of the day while others that didn’t come to the so-called-party are e-mailing us red-letter URGENT messages. Missing these presentational gems is a real benefit to telecommuting.
Cornmeal-Crusted Tilapia
This is what we had for dinner tonight, except we used freshly milled whole wheat flour and for the cornmeal I mill down popcorn kernels. That way none of it is enriched with artificial nutrients and it’s all whole grain. Oh, and we used spinach since we have a ton of it. (Organic spinach was on sale at Costco!) It was really good and it makes me happy to be cooking again.
