Other People!

So far the most difficult thing about telecommuting for me has been the lack of socialization with other people. On one hand, it is incredibly productive to be free of the distractions co-workers in close proximity bring, but on the other hand, it’s incredibly isolating to be alone in a house all day long.

Tonight, we are meeting a bunch of Kevin’s co-workers and their spouses at BJ’s Brewhouse for dinner. I am SO EXCITED to get out of the house and see other people. And by see other people, I don’t mean the other customers at the grocery store, which is what I usually see. No, other people that I get to talk to and share stories with and laugh with.

Next week we’re going to poker night at another co-worker’s house. Before this we didn’t go out with friends much because:
a) Kevin worked every night and was in school all day.
b) I had my parents and my brother & his wife. Who needs other friends?
c) Nearly every friend that we had, moved away so there weren’t many people left.

So now we get to grow up and have friends outside of our family circles. Crazy, huh? It’s about damn time…

Life Altering Tech

We got DVR when we set-up our satellite TV here in The Vegas. I have read things where people talk about how DVR or Tivo change their lives and I kind of scoffed at that thought.

It is so true.

Ha! Take that network executives who program television shows at crazy times that don’t meet my schedule. I’ll watch on my own time.

Ha! Take that stupid pacific time where primetime starts way later than my brain and body can handle.

Now, if I can just figure out how I’m going to handle Thursday nights at 8:00. Stupid networks have rearranged shows and all of the sudden I have Alias, The OC and Survivor on at the same time. I can’t record that many shows! Just when I thought I was getting ahead…

Oh… and in addition to my whole grain obsession, I am now going to start experimenting with natural sweeteners and alternative flours. Watch for info on that to come in the near future.
