The Day After the Holiday
Christmas was good. Kind of hectic, but good. Having my in-laws move to town and the fact that Kevin had to work made the day slightly more chaotic and schedule-driven than I would have liked. The past couple years Kevin’s parents lived far, far away – north of the arctic circle – in Alaska and visiting them wasn’t even an option. So we naturally just hung out with my fam. But this year we had to visit his family and my family. We promised we would eat a holiday meal with my family, so we had to figure out a schedule for the day.
5:30 AM: Wake up and freak out that the breakfast bread isn’t rising correctly. Check bread, it seems fine.
6:00 AM: Still can’t sleep cause what if bread isn’t rising enough. Check it, decide the bread isn’t rising enough. Turn oven on to 180, let it heat up, turn off and place bread in oven to rise more.
7:00 AM: Decide that sleeping is for the birds and get up. Watch some lame show on VH1.
7:30 AM: Put bread in oven to bake for real.
8:00 AM: Kevin wakes up. We eat.
8:30 AM: Open presents
9:00 AM: Play with new presents
10:00 AM: Clean up wrapping paper and get cleaned up and dressed.
10:55 AM: Drop rolls for dinner off at my parents to rise
11:00 AM: Go to Kevin’s parent’s house to open presents and visit with his sister and brother-in-law.
12:30 PM: Go to my parent’s house to open presents.
1:30 PM: Eat dinner/lunch or whatever this meal should be called since it fell during the middle of the day.
3:00 PM: Load gifts into car to take home so Kevin can be to work by 4:00.
After this time the day got much less scheduled since I didn’t have anything else to do. I basically hung out with my parents for the evening. We watched “It’s a Terribly Depressing Life”, you know… that show they always play at the holidays that is about 19 hours long and isn’t very “Wonderful” much of the time? It bored me so during most of the film I was searching real estate web sites looking for homes in The Vegas.
I had a pretty good Christmas. I got “The Sims 2″ for the computer, which I will install shortly. I got several DVD’s, CD’s, books, etc. And I also got the YourselfFitness! game for X-Box. It is awesome. If you own an X-Box and would like to have a good fitness program, this is it. It’s your own virtual personal trainer. The program kicked my butt this afternoon. It also evaluated my cardio fitness level as being much better than I realized it was based on my resting heart rate and my heart rate after a few tests the program put me through. DAMN! I’m in even better shape than I thought and now the program will beat me up even more! But really, it’s a cool game/program.
