Something that I seem to be coming across quite frequently as of late, definitely falls into my “things that must go” classification. Resizing my browser window!
I HATE when I go to a web site and they’ve set a javascript or something to resize my window. I DESPISE, ABHOR, LOATHE and DETEST this practice. Don’t mess with my browser! I keep my browser window sized to emulate 1024×768 resolution, except for times when I change it to emulate 800×600 for testing purposes.
If you are a web developer and you feel the need to resize the browser window, do it in a pop-up. Have your index page just be a link to your stupid, resized pop-up window. Just don’t change my settings.
One of my favorite bookmarks that I initially bookmarked to use for testing, but have found it a good fix for lame development that changes my browser’s window size is: Favelets. There’s a whole section that will resize your browser window to several preset specifications. I highly recommend this site.
