Can I just make a statement? (Of course I can, this is my blog!!!) I hate landlords. They really are crooks!

When I moved into a rental, the yard was full of weeds. The lawn had dandelions in it, but there were a lot of tall sagebrush-type weeds everywhere as well. I chopped down 80% of the weeds and killed all weeds in the lawn. I recently bought a house and moved out of my rental. When I moved out, my landlord charged me $40 for weeds in the yard! Was I being punished for leaving weeds, or for chopping them down. Serious – the charge said: “Weeds – $40.00″

Plus he tried to charge me $25 bucks for a fire extinguisher that was never there and he said I left an 8 inch stain on the carpet. I think I would have noticed an 8 inch stain. That’s pretty large and I had the carpet cleaned before I left! We left the place in better condition than when we moved in, yet he has no recollection of what the house was like previously. I only lived there 8 months!! If he doesn’t know what condition his rental is in, then how can he charge somebody for damages he guesses are new? Especially when only he can see these so-called damages.

I’m just glad to be away from my landlord. He has some pretty strange ideas about everything in the world and I’m glad I don’t have to talk to him anymore. Even though he “still would like to be my friend.” Yeah right.
